1. Set up a backdrop. This can be a fabric, wall, or paper surface. Think neutral colors that will help your jewelry’s true colors and details to shine.

 

2. Choose a light source and set it up. Natural light is usually best so set your backdrop up in a room with lots of natural light. If you don’t have natural light available, a lamp or LED lighting source will also work.

 

3. Choose the angle you want to shoot from. You may have noticed jewelry companies have very specific ways of featuring their products. Consider interesting angles and close-up shots of different details.

 

4. Attach the jewelry to the backdrop so it will stay in place while you take your shots.

 

5. Shoot multiple angles of the jewelry item, along with close-ups of different details.

 

6. Keep your camera settings consistent, or experiment a bit if it’s fun.

 

7. Edit or enhance the photos if necessary. You can do this in programs like Adobe Lightroom.

 

8. Save your photos in a format suitable for sharing or printing.
